All of sudden it struck to my mind, while reading this book, that “ am not writing/ making notes at all” ………. “ am I spellbound or reverse of it -there is nothing to note down”. Perhaps first reason was more appropriate…….. I see him as older version of me….. his love for nature, kids,.... no participation in inaugural programmes etc. He could talk about his parents so openly, possibly considering them as ordinary human being………It seems that after certain age person’s maturity reaches at its peak and all the differences are bridged. One starts treating all on equal platform –accepting everyone with his flaws. All through the book- pangs of broken family run…..” It was the last time the family would be together”. Maximum suffering comes in child’s part in case of broken home…………. Just by imagining the mental agony felt by child…………my heart started oozing………. ……… I had to take a long pause before restarting the book . Heart came to mouth for what author had to face at such a tender age. Therefore he concluded ’’kindest people are often those who have come through testing personal tragedies” He didn’t try for a forced translation as he kept using Hindi words as they were ” koel”, “ ayah” , “saanp”etc. At one juncture he said aptly “….a long journey was something of an extended picnic.”……… Result of forced- faith “.... you need something higher than religion and I prefer trees and mountains”…..“It is likely that they put me off religion.”….. Expressing harsh reality of boarding school “no child benefits from the absence of affection” Words used are-both tough and easy-at times. And I didn’t wish to spoil flow and feel of reading, hence didn’t go for dictionary this time. Only a writer of lives like him can write like this while describing population of Dehradun “...population….. around 40000 souls.” Ruskin is motivational at times” for that man is strongest who stands alone.” He is very much influenced by nature………..One travels Mussorie and Dehra through his writing. Reader feels to be surrounded by hills and wood. The book can be taken as extract of his lifetime experiences…… Better one should go for “Lone Fox Dancing”. Simple narration ( I escape here to call it a story) by humble person-as humble as you could imagine - could laugh at himself many a times. Lighter moments, what if few, shared show Mr. Bond has great sense of humour ……….. liveliness still could be spared despite a tragic life.
